Is one of the most vociferous voices against alternative health practitioners on the internet, actually a medical drug company representative?

This individual has been claiming that he is just a concerned consumer who has a first aid degree. When pressed, he has now admitted to being in the medical field. His web site is littered with nasty profanities and slanderous statements about leaders in the alternative health field especially homeopathy. Gimpy, which is his pseudonym, consistently attacks the Society of Homeopaths, UK and its members and other leaders in the health field.

The blog, gimpyblog.wordpress.com is a vile and a low attack on alternative health practitioners with little truth to the nasty implications. Not only that, it consistently breaks copyright laws, and slanders individuals with very low tactics used by other drug company and pharmaceutical industry supporters.

He uses many profanities which attracts other low lifes to join in in reviling homeopathy and the alternative health field.

More in another post as to why Drug Companies want to squelch homeopathy.

    Interesting points.

I think this blog should be used to publish the evidence for a global pharmaceutical conspiracy against homeopathy?

Does anyone have any evidence that any pharmaceutical company has ever taken the threat of homeopathy seriously and ever put a single penny towards suppressing it?

    Any leaked documents, whistle-blowers? Anything?

    We should be told.

Hi, I’ve never made my qualifications public as I don’t believe they are important when arguing about Alt-Med and CAM. What is important is that arguments are supported by evidence and that baseless attacks are avoided.
Also, I must assure you and your readers that I do not work for a drug company, never have and have never been paid directly or by proxy by a drugs company.

  3. I do wish that people who go round alleging that people like me take money from drug companies would feel obliged to produce just the tiniest bit of evidence.

It isn’t really very likely after all. I don’t think GSK feels very threatened by a handful of homeopaths. What many big drug companies have done is to buy their way into the (huge) alternative industry, perhaps attracted by the ease with which people can get away with unjustified claims in that area.

It is easy, Dr. Gimpy, hiding behind anonymity to state your disclaimer which I don’t believe for a moment. And I think your vitrole is much more intense than simply “arguing” about CAM- you attack people you don’t even know in a merciless fashion. Your blog is littered with your own nastiness and imprecations that go far beyond fair arguments.

Well, question for the commenters. Have you or an institute you have worked for taken money or been granted money by a pharmaceutical company for research? Have you had any “recognition” for your pharmaceutical research or work?

  5. gimpy said

Do you have any evidence to indicate that my disclaimer is wrong? If not I suggest you stop making unsubstantiated claims. It is all becoming a bit tiresome.

  6. doctorlimpy said

Unsubstantiated claims? Sounds very pharmaceutical to me.

But in any case, I can only conclude at this point that you are writing a drug sponsored blog . And it is interesting that your blog is littered with ‘unsubstantiated claims’ about the “danger” of CAM and homeopathy.

If you are as you first maintained- just a consumer then reveal that. But then later you admitted differently- that you were a doctor and medical researcher. Well, lets put this to rest and why don’t you just reveal who you really are?

It was all on your blog, perhaps not there anymore(?)

At least we know that David Colquhoun has spent his life teaching drug company people. His objections to and opinions about homeopathy are based on an obvious and established bias. He has made it appear that conventional drugs are his religion when he calls homeopathy “evil” so I am therefore not necessarily of the opinion that his motivation is drug company money.

Christ, you homeopaths really are morons.

Christ, you homeopaths really are morons.

    I’m not a homeopath.

But in any case, Mr. Lewis would you say that about ALL “blacks” or “jews”?

…oops, the answer is probably “yes”.

In any case, thanks for showing us who YOU really are.

You are moronic because you feel the need to create a blog that casts unsubstantiated slurs against critics of homeopathy. If you can fnd just one shred of evidence to support your claims. I would have respect. But as it is, you are just digging a moronically huge moron hole, so that you can wallow in moron fantasies of the persecution of morons.

Grow up. Engage with the debate.

  10. doctorlimpy said

Grow up. Said Andy Lewis- LOL.

Well I count the word moron and other morphs of it 5 times in one post…doesn’t sound like a great way to intelligently debate nor to start a “respectful” relationship.

Perhaps a few too many days and nights spent off the job and on the blogs fighting all those “morons” that you claim you “respectfully” debate?

  11. Andy Lewis said

I’ll be back when you find that shred of evidence.

  12. doctorlimpy said

    Mr. Lewis,

I’m sorry I don’t have time to go through the thousands of comments you have left on other blogs to give evidence that you are not really debating but instead name-calling at homeopaths. I also don’t have time to show that you are addicted to negative blogging to show your own self satisfied superiority, as you have attempted here.

AS well, I don’t have time to show that you have used the word “moron” to describe all homeopaths on other blogs and web sites. And that you have possibly used this attitude towards other groups who you feel superior to.

I can only gather you have from your attitude here. So, sorry I don’t have evidence for my claim that you do not intelligently or respectfully debate except for what is here on this post.

    Thank you for this information.

I was searching about homeopathy and this confirmed many conclusions that I was already coming to. A lot of mean spirited drug company reps doing their business- what a business it is!

    Thanks again. Keep it up.

  15. not_a_moron said

Do you have a single shred of evidence that any single one of the people you have named receives money from drug companies? Contrary to your suggestions that your industry is being smeared, this itself looks like an elaborate corporate smear with no evidence.

Perhaps you would like to come out and put your name to it? The truth will out soon enough, and it will be VERY embarrassing for the homeopathy community when the truth about these smears is exposed.

  16. doctorlimpy said

(Not a) moron- Questions for you. Who are you and why are you so threatening here? Is my life in danger as a result of criticizing drug companies or exposing their tactics?

Are you Andy Lewis since he, above, used the word moron many times and you use it in your name? Or is this a favourite word used by those of the same ilk?

Another question- what does a pharmacology professor and oncologist have in common? I’ll answer it- Well, conventional drugs of course.

Has Ben Goldacre ever won any “awards” “sponsored” by drug companies?
